The John Muir Museum & Birthplace 
126 High Street, Dunbar. East Lothian

East Lothian Council Museums Service manages the museum at John Muir's Birthplace on behalf of the John Muir Birthplace Trust. The aim of the trust was to secure the future of John Muir's birthplace in Dunbar.

It is a very interesting centre and museum focused on the work and many discoveries of the famous Scottish naturalist and geologist, John Muir, who having emigrated to America founded the famous Yellowstone National Park Timber Reserve in Colorado.

Admission is free!

Open - April to October - Monday - Saturday10am - 5pm  Sunday 1 - 5pm 
November to March- Wednesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm  Sunday 1 - 5pm

Coldstream Museum - In the town's quiet Market Square, with it's own pretty courtyard picnic area, 19th century fountain and man-trap! 

The Exhibition Gallery hosts a varied programme of temporary exhibitions and permanent displays including 'Second to None' which tells the history of the Coldstream Guards from their formation to the present day. 

The children's activity area has period toys and dressing up clothes, including their own Coldstream Guards 'Glory Order'

With a gift shop too - Admission is free!
